Supporters were recently advised of the introduction of a safe standing area in the East Stand at the Swansea.com Stadium from the start of the 2024-25 season. 

All supporters impacted by the change should already have been contacted by the ticket office. Further details can be found here. Please contact the ticket office if you have any queries or wish to move your seat to a different part of the ground. 

In a move designed to improve supporter safety and the matchday experience - and following consultation with the Sports Grounds Safety Authority (SGSA) and relevant stakeholders - independent barriers will be installed in the north-east corner of the stadium, as well as a section in the north stand for away supporters.

Independent barriers will be installed in the following blocks for home supporters: NU7, NU8, NU9, EU1, EU2, EU3 and EU4. Their introduction will affect 1,431 seats among sections for home supporters, as well as around 500 seats for away fans.

Please note, ticket holders in the safe-standing sections of the stadium will still have a seat, but the independent barriers will give supporters in these areas the option to stand safely during matches.

Work on the installation of the independent barriers – which will be 90cm in height - will commence upon the conclusion of the 2023-24 campaign, and be completed before the start of the 2024-25 season.

As part of the SGSA’s Licensed Standing Application Process, the club has engaged with the local authority to discuss our proposal to introduce safe-standing infrastructure.

Swansea City Council is in support of our proposal, and will be involved in all phases of the project.

The Swansea City Supporters' Trust have been in constant dialogue with the club regarding these plans, regularly sharing insights from their recent matchday experience survey into the club, which indicates growing support amongst the fanbase for this. As a result, they have fully endorsed this decision by the club.

While the Swansea.com Stadium is a licensed all-seater stadium, the club is aware that in some areas of the ground supporters wish to stand during matches.

As a result, the club identified the north-east corner as the most appropriate area for the planned installation of independent barriers.

Stadiums in the top two divisions in England have been all-seater since 1994, with legislation coming into force in the wake of the Taylor Report into the 1989 Hillsborough disaster.

Following a successful safe standing trial that took place during the second half of the 2021-22 season, the UK Government announced a change in policy in July 2022 to allow licensed standing across all-seater stadiums.

The club will update supporters in due course with any further information regarding this process.
