Swansea City Under-18s defender Zane Myers was ‘buzzing’ to get his first goal of the season in their 4-0 Professional Development League victory against Bristol City Under 18s at the Robin’s High Performance Centre.

The young Swans emphatic victory was made even more impressive as it came on the back of a difficult afternoon last time out in the Professional Development League, when they suffered a heavy defeat to Ipswich Town.

Coach Darren Davies included a number of under-15 and under-16 squad players as they got the chance to step up, something Myers believes the new faces acquitted themselves well.

“I felt they did make a difference," Myers said of the young players.

"I thought Yori [Griffith] did especially well. The ones who came on from the under-16s played well and helped the team out a lot. It definitely made a difference to get some new players in.

“I think we played well and defended a lot better than we did against Ipswich. We kept a clean sheet, which was our first of the season. I enjoyed it, to get a goal was nice as well.

“I was in a good position to score, there was no one really round me. I hit it low and hard. I was buzzing to score.

"It was my first goal of the season, so I was happy with that and hopefully I can get a few more.

“It’s been a lot of hard work this week. The boys have been working hard. Results will come, and hopefully we can build on the result."

Myers also has aspirations of continuing his progress at the club in the future, having had his opportunities at under-21 level.

“I’ve played two games for the under-21s already, and obviously that’s what you want to do," he added.

"You want to be there and keep improving as a player. Hopefully if I keep working hard and keep playing well it will come."
