Žan Vipotnik | We got what we deserved

Goalscorer Žan Vipotnik felt Swansea City had got what they deserved with victory at Oxford United, and now has his sights set on adding to his tally on a regular basis.

The Slovenian striker netted his second goal for the Swans to open the scoring at the Kassam Stadium, making sure he was on hand to turn in Ronald’s cross to the far post seven minutes before half-time.

That ended Swansea’s wait to find the net, and they increased their lead when Florian Bianchini sent a low shot into the net from Goncalo Franco’s fine through ball.

Dane Scarlett got a goal back for the hosts late on, but the Swans took all three points to the delight of a sold-out away end.

And Vipotnik was glad to have played his part in a positive performance and result after a frustrating run of results.

“This feels really good because we have had to wait for this win and for this feeling,” he said.

“It feels amazing to help the team with a goal, and we were able to continue from there. We got better as the game went on and I think we deserved the win.

“The goal means a lot to me, it has been some games since I scored and as a striker it is not good if you do not score and the team does not score. It’s my job to score.

“I hope I can move forward now with confidence, we train really hard working on our play and the finishing.

“I think we have deserved more from these last few games but I am happy we could get this win.

“We have three games in the week, and we want to continue this at home on Tuesday (against Watford).”

Vipotnik also paid thanks to the travelling Jacks who made the journey for the early kick-off, saying their vocal support had been a big lift for Luke Williams’ squad.

“The supporters gave us a big boost, they were singing from the first minute until the last minute,” he added.

“I would like to say a really big thank you to them because they helped us a lot to get this win.

“It felt like we were playing at home because all we could hear was them through the whole game.”
