Žan Vipotnik feels Swansea City’s current run is a deserved reward for players and fans alike, and hopes there are more wins and goals to come over the final games of the season.

The Slovenian striker proved the matchwinner for the Swans against Hull City on Good Friday, slotting home his seventh goal of the season from the penalty spot.

That made it four league wins in a row without conceding; the first time Swansea have managed that since March 2008.

The home side were roared onto the 1-0 victory by a bumper Bank Holiday crowd, and Vipotnik believes the current feelgood factor is down to team and supporters sticking together following a tough period.

“It’s amazing, I know it has been a long time since we have put together a run like this but we did a good job,” he said.

“Over these last seven or eight games we have played really well, and I think we and the fans deserve these results.

“We have showed that we are a team, we stayed compact in the pitch, it means we stay close together with and without the ball and we can work for each other.

“If we keep creating chances, and we keep defending well and having clean sheets there’s no reason we cannot keep the run going.”

Vipotnik’s penalty was his first spot-kick and took him tantalizingly close to double figures in his first campaign at the Swans.

And he was more than ready to step up when the referee pointed to the spot.

“Yeah, of course I want to take the responsibility,” he said.

“It is a job for strikers, and I am thankful for the team for giving me the chance to score.

“I hope I can score more, I would love to score in every game if I could.

“We are playing well and I feel comfortable in the games, I am enjoying my job for the team.”
