Žan Vipotnik is looking forward to a possible home debut for Swansea City, after the new number nine made his bow for the club at Middlesbrough.

The Slovenian was named among the substitutes at the Riverside Stadium having had a handful of training sessions with his new teammates following his arrival on a four-year contract.

The 22-year-old got just over 20 minutes under his belt in the defeat on Teesside, with head coach Luke Williams making clear his workload needs to be managed as he gets up to speed in his new surroundings.

But he is looking to get more valuable game time, and feature in front of the Jack Army in SA1 for the first time when Gillingham visit for the Carabao Cup first-round tie.

“I was very pleased to have made my debut for the club, although it was not the result we had hoped for," said Vipotnik.

"There were many positives, especially in the second half, and we will take them into Tuesday.

"We will re-group, and work together to make sure we make it right for our next game. A lot of us haven't played with each other much, so it was good to understand each other.

"I am excited about potentially playing at the stadium for the first time in front of the fans, and it's under the lights.

"I know the club have won the competition before, and how much of a big cup it is in the English leagues, so hopefully we can go as far as we can."
