Swansea City Women assistant manager Yzzy Taylor was pleased by the quality of some of the goal scored in booking a place in the second round of the Bute Energy Welsh Cup with an 11-0 win at Talycopa AFC Women.

Taite Trivett’s first half hat-trick put the wheels in motion for the Swans, with a brace from Aimee Deacon and goals from Danielle Broadhurst and Emily Richards making it 7-0 at the interval.

Deacon completed her own hat-trick after the break, before a quickfire double from Richards secured the Swans third treble of the afternoon, before a late own goal rounded off the scoring.

The win sees the Swans advance to the second round of the competition, setting up a trip to Genero Adran South outfit Carmarthen Town Women.

“We came here with a goal to get to the next round and we’ve achieved that, so it’s positive all-round,” said Taylor.

“It was good to see some people get minutes in the legs, it was also good to see (goalkeeper) Charlie [Haynes] get out onto the pitch after a tough rehab over the opening weeks of the season, and there were some really pleasing performances from players getting their first minutes.

“The goals we scored were of a good quality, it’s positive for the players who scored and it was good to see the goals distributed well across the team.

“There were a lot of chances that were created throughout the whole squad so it was pleasing for them to get goals, but ultimately it was about getting into the next round.

“There will be some familiar faces in the Carmarthen side for the next round, it will be a fresh challenge for us but definitely one we are looking forward to.”

Sammy Wynne, a lifelong Swansea City supporter, led out the Swans as she was handed the captaincy as Katy Hosford dropped to the bench.

Taylor was pleased with Wynne’s performance and was pleased that she had the opportunity to skipper the side.

“It’s really pleasing, I think it’s great for Sammy,” added Taylor.

“I think she was really pleased to wear the captain’s armband, she put in a really solid performance.

“It was great to see her on the pitch and I think it would have been a big moment for her, so I’m really pleased for her.”
