Caretaker head coach Yzzy Taylor felt Swansea City Women’s performance in their 3-0 win over Barry Town United was a culmination of the recent improvement they have shown.

Three first-half goals set the Swans on their way to a third win in a row.

Jess Williams headed them in front after just six minutes, powering home Katy Hosford’s corner.

Stacey John-Davis made it two soon after, curling an excellent shot into the top right corner.

John-Davis had her second not long after, a lobbed effort leaving the goalkeeper stranded to round off the scoring.

Taylor was delighted with her side’s efforts and praised them for a solid display.

“It was a really positive display,” said Taylor.

“A performance like that has been coming, we knew it was going to be a tougher test but we took our last performance up a notch.

“It was pleasing to see us score early from a corner, we should probably have had two from set-pieces, but it’s really positive to score from a set play and see Stacey [John-Davis] score two, as well.

“She really understood the gameplan, she found herself in some really nice pockets and she was really direct and was brave in what she did, she got her rewards for that which is really positive.

“The defence were superb, they really earned their clean sheet along with Charlie [Haynes] in goal.

“We’ve moved people around and made changes, but we showed how solid we can be when we are all on the same page and be really successful in what we are trying to do.

“There is a really good atmosphere around the squad at the moment, it’s a really positive place to be with two games to go.

“We will go to Aberystwyth next week looking to put on another strong performance and then welcome them back to Llandarcy the week after.”

The game also marked Sophie Brisland-Hancocks’ 200th game as a Swansea City player across two spells.

Taylor worked with Brisland-Hancocks during her time at Cardiff Met Women before following her to Swansea, and believes the midfielder is a great example to her teammates, and the rest of the league.

“Two hundred games for one club is a superb achievement,” said Taylor.

“I think she’s close to 300 games in this league, we know what we get out of her as a player and what she can bring to the game.

“She is a real advocate for what this league is about and I’m really pleased for her to hit that milestone.”
