Yan's first-team target
Yan Dhanda is hoping a stint playing under-23s football will boost his chances of winning a recall from Graham Potter.
The 19-year-old was a regular feature in the first-team squad during the early stages of the season having netted a memorable late winner on his senior debut against Sheffield United on the opening day.
Dhanda has made a total of four appearances so far under Potter following his summer move from Liverpool.
But having been absent from the matchday squad since September’s 0-0 draw at Middlesbrough, Dhanda has taken the chance to play some football for the Swans' development side, featuring in the games against West Ham United and Arsenal last week.
Potter and his staff were at Landore to watch the Arsenal game, and Dhanda has fingers crossed that his performances for the under-23s will help as he looks to get back into the manager’s plans.
“It’s been good to get some more minutes under my belt,” the attacking midfielder said.
“It’s good for me to build my fitness and get sharper every week.
“Having the first-team staff at under-23s games shows to me and the other players that if we’re doing well, we’ve got a chance to make the step up.
“I’m just waiting for my chance to come again. I think it’s better for me to get some minutes with the under-23s so that when my opportunity does come, I’m fit, sharp and ready to go.”
