'We're really pleased for Jordi'
Gary Richards is looking forward to seeing more of Jordi Govea after the former Real Madrid youngster made his first appearance in Swansea City colours.
The left-back played for the under-23s in their 4-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in Premier League 2 last Friday having overcome a torn hamstring.
Govea showed glimpses of the quality he can bring to the side after coming on as a substitute for the final 13 minutes at Hotspur Way.
And Richards believes the hard work done by the 19-year-old as he has battled back to full fitness is already paying dividends.
“We’re really pleased for Jordi,” the under-23s coach said. “He’s had a bit of bad luck since coming to the club.
“He’s worked really hard to get back to fitness, so it was great to see him come on.
“He’s been back in training for a couple of weeks and we can see he’s a very good player.
“He’s been very keen to get back into the group. Now that he’s back, it will be a matter of him building up his playing time.”
The under-23s are back in action on Saturday afternoon (12pm), when they welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to Landore in the Premier League Cup.
