'We want the Swansea style back'
Mike van der Hoorn reckons Graham Potter’s approach will see Swansea City playing the possession game in the Championship this season.
The Swans are making final preparations for the second-tier opener at Sheffield United during their pre-season tour of Germany and Austria.
Potter’s side have two friendly games to come before the Blades clash, against La Liga side Eibar on Tuesday and SC Freiburg of the German Bundesliga on Friday.
And van der Hoorn says the former Ostersund boss is already making his mark.
“He’s been really chilled with us, especially during this period when we are trying to work out our team and how we want to play,” van der Hoorn said.
“He’s relaxed and seems to be a good fit for us.
“He really wants us to keep the ball as much as we can. It is like the Swansea style that began a few years ago.
“He wants to bring that back and that’s good because that’s the way we want to play.”
After making significant progress last season, van der Hoorn is hoping for another big year.
The centre-back struggled for game-time during his first campaign at the Liberty having moved from Ajax, but clocked up 33 appearances in 2017-18.
“Of course, my aim is to play regular football again and I need to work for that,” van der Hoorn added.
“We will see what happens, but I’m really hoping to play as many games as I can.”
