Following Swansea City’s wins over Oxford United and Watford, we take a closer look at some stats from those wins, and the season so far.

 

– Swansea’s impressive pressing work is underlined by the fact Luke Williams’ side allow the fewest opposition passes per defensive action in the Championship. They are the only team to have a figure lower than eight passes, averaging 7.42.

1 – The Swans also have the highest average defensive line height (54.6m) in the Championship.

2 – Over the last four games Swansea City have the second-highest xG figure in the Championship. Only Coventry can top the Swans figure of 1.63 goals per game.

– Swansea rank third in the Championship for crosses into the opposition box, averaging just over 10 a game.

3 – Swansea also rank third for the highest xG from set-pieces over the last nine Championship games.

3 – Ronald now has three assists for the season after setting up a goal in each of the last two games, the best tally in the Swans squad.

5 – The clean sheet against Watford was Swansea’s fifth of the season. They have conceded just nine goals in 14 games, a record only bettered by West Bromwich Albion, Sheffield United and Burnley.

– Lawrence Vigouroux ranks sixth in the Championship when it comes to the highest percentage of crosses cut out by a goalkeeper, with the Chile international making a number of impressive aerial claims under pressure against Oxford and Watford.

– Swansea’s progressive approach with the ball is reflected in them lying sixth for passes into the opposition box, and fourth for entries into the final third.

– Goncalo Franco and Kyle Naughton each made six combined tackles and interceptions against Watford, the most for the Swans.

– Florian Bianchini and Myles Peart-Harris’ goals against Oxford and Watford mean nine players have now scored for the Swans this season. Liam Cullen, Ronald, Zan Vipotnik, Matt Grimes, Ben Cabango, Ollie Cooper and Azeem Abdulai.

13.5 – Swansea have averaged 13.5 shots on goal across their last four games, the fifth-highest number in the Championship in that period.

60 – Swansea City average 60 per cent of the ball in games this season, that is the second-highest such figure in the second tier.
