Under-18s left to rue missed chances
15th September
Swansea City Under-18s suffered a 1-0 defeat against Barnsley at Landore on Saturday.
The Swans had a number of first-half chances, the most notable of which fell to Aaron Lewis who saw his deflected shot come back off the crossbar.
However, the visitors broke the deadlock five minutes after the restart with a well-taken strike from the edge of the box.
Kyle Copp and substitute Liam Cullen squandered chances late on as Barnsley held firm to take all three points.
And Under-18s coach Cameron Toshack insisted his side deserved something out of the game.
"Sometimes in football you don't get what you deserve," he said. "I thought we were very positive, and created enough chances to win three or four games.
"The lads are obviously very disappointed, but looking at the game overall I think if we take one or two of those chances then we'll make it very difficult for teams.
"But that is all part of the players development and we have to take the chances when they come our way."
