U19s book place in FAW Youth Cup semis
Swansea City Under-19s booked their place in the semi-finals of the FAW Youth Cup as the claimed a 5-1 victory over Merthyr Town in Landore.
The young Swans - who are looking to win the trophy for the 10th year in succession - found the net through Owen Evans, Mason Jones-Thomas, Jayden Reid, Bradley Gibbings and an own goal, despite losing Dan Williams to a red card in the second half.
Cavan Williams scored the only goal for the visitors, who gave a strong account of themselves.
The young Swans could not have wished for a better start as they took an early lead through midfielder Evans, but they were quickly pegged back by Cavan Williams during a lively opening to proceedings.
But winger Jones-Thomas restored the Swans advantage just before the half-hour mark as they took a 2-1 lead into the half-time break.
Reid slotted home their third, before midfielder Dan Williams was given his marching orders after picking up a second booking.
But an own goal and Gibbings' finish ensured safe onward passage for the Swans, although Cavan Williams nearly netted his second of the game late on for the visitors as his free-kick struck the bar.
