U18s target return to winning ways at Fairwood
31st October
Swansea City Under-18s look to return to winning ways at home to Charlton Athletic this Saturday afternoon.
The young Swans suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat away to Ipswich Town last weekend, with 14-year-old keeper Alex Lang starting between the sticks after a sickness bug affected the squad.
U18s coach Gary Richards said: "Despite the illness that spread through the camp the boys still had the determination to go out and put on a performance.
"We've been very unlucky for the most part of this season with results and although a few of our lads are still suffering from the sickness bug our squad is in a much stronger position ahead of this weekend's games.
"Another loss is disappointing but there were plenty of positives to take from the game against Ipswich and both Cameron (Toshack) and I feel we had the better chances to win the game.
"We've had games where we've had good attacking performances but let ourselves down defensively and we've had games where we've had strong defensive performances but haven't taken the chances in front of goal.
"First and foremost this weekend we want a good performance. We need to start linking everything we are doing right together."
The match against Charlton kicks-off at Fairwood Training Ground at noon before the an U19s team start the defence of the FAW Youth Cup against Bow Street at Landore on Sunday, November 2 (2pm).
