Tough tie awaits, warns Clucas

Sam Clucas has underlined the Swans’ desire to continue progressing under Carlos Carvalhal, but admits they will face a tough test in the FA Cup this weekend.

The Swans head to Meadow Lane on Saturday in the fourth round to take on a Notts County side who are flying high in League Two.

Carvalhal has helped turn the tide at the Liberty, with the Portuguese guiding his new side to three wins, two draws and a defeat in his six games in charge in all competitions.

Monday night’s victory over in-form Liverpool was a huge shot in the arm for the Swans, with just three points separating them and 15th-placed Newcastle.

But Clucas insists the Swans will not underestimate a County side which sits 50 places below them in the English pyramid.

“The gaffer’s made it clear that he wants us to go as far as we can in the FA Cup. It’s going to be a tough game; they’re flying high in League Two,” said the midfielder.

“We have to go there and play our best because they will be confident of causing an upset on their own patch.

“Hopefully, we can take our confidence from Monday into that game.

“Obviously, our main aim is Premier League survival but, if we build confidence in the cup, the more games the merrier.”
