Ton up for proud Kyle
Kyle Naughton is full of pride having made it to 100 appearances for Swansea City – but insists there are plenty more to come.
The defender, who has been at the Liberty since January 2015, reached his century in the 0-0 draw with Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup last weekend.
Naughton has been a regular at right-back for much of his three-year stint in SA1, and has missed only two Premier League games so far this term.
And the 29-year-old is hopeful that there are many more Swans appearances in front of him.
“It’s a massive achievement for me,” Naughton said.
“Reaching 100 appearances for the club is something I’m proud of.
“Since I’ve been here, there have been some tough times. We’ve fought to stay in the Premier League and always come through.
“Hopefully, it can be the same again this year and I can go on to play many more games for the Swans.
“When I first joined, I came to play as many games as I could. I’ve managed to do that and get to 100 games quite quickly.
“It’s nice to feel settled here with the family. Hopefully I can be here for a few more years.”
Naughton is likely to make appearance number 101 against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday as the Swans aim to move further away from the relegation zone.
Carlos Carvalhal’s men are unbeaten in 10 matches in all competitions, and Naughton is hopeful they can continue their recent momentum.
“It’s a big game - Brighton are in the same sort of position that we are,” he added.
“We’ll go into it with the same mindset we’ve had over the past few matches, which is to win and, if not, get a point.
“It’ll be a tough game, but we’ve shown in other tough games this season that we can get three points. Hopefully, we can do that again.”
