Swansea City 2 Darlington 0
Second-half goals from Nick Cusack and Nathan Tyson gave Swansea their first home league under new boss Colin Addison.
The Swans dominated from the off but had to wait until five minutes into the second half to break the deadlock, as Jonathan Coates played in Cusack who finished well past Andy Collett.
The home side doubled their lead four minutes later when on-loan striker Nathan Tyson cut in from the right and struck an unstoppable shot from 25 yards.
Barry Conlon hit the underside of the crossbar from a Danny Mellanby corner for Darlington, but it was too little too late.
Swans line-up: Freestone, Todd, O'Leary, Bound, Phillips, Cusack, Coates, Casey (Watkin, 79), Howard, Williams, Tyson (Mumford, 90).
