‘There’s no room for error’
Cameron Toshack insists Swansea City Under-23s must be at their best to progress in the knockout stage of the Premier League Cup when they face Bristol City at Landore on Thursday (2pm).
The Swans, who are the defending champions, face the Robins in the last 16 of the competition after finishing second in Group D.
And Toshack says knockout football will once again provide the young Swans with a different kind of challenge.
Their category two opponents topped their group thanks to impressive victories over Stoke and Liverpool.
“The players are very aware of the challenge they face,” Toshack said. “Bristol City will provide a good test, so we must not lose focus.
“Bristol City are a very capable academy and have proved it in this competition with wins against Liverpool and Stoke.
“The way we have approached other cup tournaments this season is really pleasing, but there is no more room for error. It is knockout football and we have to look at winning every game if we want to progress.
“The players want to keep our winning momentum going, and do ourselves justice on the season run-in.”
Swansea City Under-23s face Bristol City in the last 16 of the Premier League Cup at Landore this Thursday, March 29 (2pm). Entry is FREE, but there is no parking at the facility.
