Teenager Sam Parker can be proud of debut showing, says Alan Sheehan
Sam Parker can be a proud young man after the Swansea City teenager impressed on his senior debut in the draw at Coventry City, says caretaker head coach Sheehan.
The 17-year-old was handed his first start by the Irishman at the CBS Arena, and grew into the contest as it went on, with his excellent run and cross nearly setting up Yannick Bolasie early in the second half.
Sheehan revealed the academy product has been a young player who caught his eye from the moment he joined the club in the summer, and felt Parker stood up to the challenge admirably.
“Sam can be very proud of himself tonight,” said Sheehan.
“He was impressive in how he grew into the game.
“For me, if you are good enough you are old enough and Sam has caught my eye.
“He has come through the academy, and I felt he deserved it.
“He’s a wonderful kid with a high level of potential, and I am very happy for him and his family, they can be very proud.”
