Taylor: "We didn't create enough"
11th February
Neil Taylor insisted the Swans didn't create enough chances to warrant a positive result as they suffered a 2-0 defeat at West Brom on Wednesday night.
In a match where opportunities were few and far between for both sides, second-half goals from Brown Ideye and Saido Berahino were enough to inflict defeat on Garry Monk's men.
After an even first period, Ideye broke the deadlock on the hour-mark with a well-placed finish across goal before Berahino doubled the Baggies' lead with a fiercely-struck effort in the 74th minute.
And Taylor felt a lack of invention from the Swans was the main reason behind their disappointing defeat.
"We didn't create enough," said the Welsh left-back. "First half we were okay and quite comfortable in the game. We said at half-time that we had to come out and go up a level, put them under pressure, but we didn't do that at all. We started the half really poorly.
"It was really disappointing. We gave them impetus in the game and, from then on, we huffed and puffed without getting the goal.
"You have to give them credit because they were well organised. As soon as they got the first goal, they were hard to break down, but we didn't do enough.
"It's a disappointing night, and we have to pick ourselves up and go again because we haven't done enough so far in this calendar year.
"We started the season well, and we want to make sure four or five months doesn't go to waste. It's our responsibility to pick up and go again.
"We have to dust ourselves down and work hard now in the lead up to Manchester United."
Meanwhile, Taylor paid homage to the travelling Jack Army, who once again turned up in force to back Monk's side.
"I couldn't believe how many fans were there," added Taylor. "I thought: surely we couldn't have had that much of an allocation.
"They're brilliant, and we're sorry for today's performance because they shouldn't have to go home after a game like that.
"But hopefully they're still behind us, and we can put on a show for them against Man United and get a good result."
