Swansea City's 2021-22 fixtures revealed
Swansea City will kick-off the 2021-22 Championship season with a trip to Lancashire to take on Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on Saturday, August 7.
It will be the first time the clubs have met on the opening day of a league campaign since the 1956-57 season, when the Swans emerged 5-1 winners at the Vetch.
The Swans will be searching for a first win at Ewood Park in 50 years, having drawn all three of their fixtures at the ground since returning to the Championship in 2018.
Swansea have enjoyed a fine record in opening fixtures over recent years, last losing the first game of a league season in 2013 against Manchester United.
The two South Wales derbies are set for October 16 and April 2, with the first of those taking place at the Liberty Stadium.
The festive period sees a Boxing Day trip to Millwall followed by home fixtures against Luton and Fulham.
The Swans will round off the campaign with a home game against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, May 7.
After the opening league game against Blackburn, the following midweek will see the first round of the Carabao Cup take place, with the draw handing Swansea a trip to take on Reading.
The first home fixture of the season will see Sheffield United visit the Liberty following their relegation from the Premier League on August 14, with Stoke City scheduled to head to SA1 on Tuesday, August 17.
August is rounded off by away fixtures at Bristol City and Preston North End before the first international break of the season.
Championship action resumes with home games against promoted Hull City and Millwall, before a visit to Kenilworth Road to take on Luton Town.
The Swans then host Huddersfield Town before heading to Craven Cottage to take on another side relegated from the Premier League in Fulham.
A trip to Derby begins October, before the first South Wales derby of the season takes place at the Liberty on Saturday, October 16. There are two further home games that month as relegated West Brom and promoted Peterborough head to SA1, either side of a trip to Birmingham City.
There is an away double-header at the start of November with visits to Coventry City and Bournemouth, with Blackpool making their first visit to the Liberty in over a decade after that month’s international break.
Next up is a trip to Oakwell to face last season’s play-off rivals Barnsley, before a home clash with Reading brings down the curtain on the month.
December sees trips to Middlesbrough and Queens Park Rangers sandwich a home meeting with Nottingham Forest before the aforementioned run of festive fixtures.
Swansea head to Millwall on Boxing Day, host Luton on December 29 and then entertain Fulham on New Year’s Day to kick-off 2022.
The three remaining league games in January are a trip to Huddersfield, a home game against Preston and the long journey to face Hull.
February starts with the home game against Blackburn and an away game at Stoke. Bristol City and Bournemouth also head to SA1 that month, while Swansea will also be on their travels to Sheffield United and West Brom.
March is bookended by home games against Coventry and Birmingham, with away games at promoted Blackpool and Peterborough in between.
April starts with the return South Wales derby at Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday 2, before Derby visit the Liberty.
Easter weekend sees Barnsley head to South Wales on Good Friday, before the journey down the M4 to Reading on Easter Monday.
Swansea finish April with a home game against Middlesbrough and a trip to Nottingham Forest.
The sole fixture in May is the final fixture of the season, with Queens Park Rangers heading to the Liberty.
