Swansea City Women have completed the signing of midfielder Sammy Wynne.

Wynne joins the Swans from English third-tier side Oxford United Women, having captained the U's development team before netting her first senior goal in last season’s FA Cup.

The 21-year-old grew up in Swansea and was part of Swans Women's academy until the age of 13 when she joined Bristol City.

She spent five years with the Robins before making the switch to Oxford. Wynne joins Swansea on a semi-professional contract and will wear number 15 for the Swans.

An avid Swansea City supporter, Wynne is delighted to be back at the club where it all started for her.

“The girls have been really welcoming and this is my hometown team,” said Wynne.

“It’s been about 10 years since I was here last, so that adds to the excitement. It’s great to be back and I can’t wait for the season to get started.

“The club has come on massively since I was here last, throughout the whole club not just the seniors, and the training facilities that we have are a brilliant platform for us to achieve what we want to achieve this season.

“The quality across the squad is there to see so that’s really good for all of us to push each other for places to start in the team, and the togetherness in the team is really good.

“As a team we want to win the league, this team has a rich history of winning trophies and we want that again this season, as a team we want to strive to be the best.

“As a player, I like to get on the ball a lot, I like to keep it simple most of the time, just get on the ball and connect the defence to the attack.

“I like to think that I’m quite composed when I get it but I also work really hard off the ball."
