Swansea City Women sign midfielder Maddy Murray
Swansea City Women have completed the signing of midfielder Maddy Murray ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.
Murray, 17, joins the Swans on a semi-professional contract following a short trial period, having featured for the Football Association of Wales Girls’ Academy Under-16s last season, netting three goals.
Murray became part of the FAW set-up after impressing with Cardiff Wanderers Under-16s, netting 39 goals in 16 games across all competitions in the 2021-22 campaign.
She has won international honours with Wales Under-19s, making three appearances for the young Dragons having made her debut against Scotland in February.
"Maddy is a young and versatile player who is technically strong and is capable of playing within the Swansea City identity," said first-team manager Jamie Sherwood.
"Maddy represents a shift in our recruitment policy where we want to sign young, hungry and coachable players to continue to shape our way moving forward.
"She has had exposure with Wales Under-19 squads, and will be focused on imprinting her personality into our football identity to ensure she cements herself into this squad while still looking for international recognition.
"Maddy has already settled into the group brilliantly since her arrival and when senior players accept you into the group you know they respect the quality of the player and person."
