Swansea City Women | Development pathway round-up
In our latest women’s pathway round-up, Swansea City Under-19s got back to winning ways, whilst the under-16s progressed safely in the cup.
Under-19s
Following a first defeat of the season against Cardiff City, the Swans immediately bounced back with a 4-2 win over reigning champions Barry Town United.
Izzy Watkins gave Barry the lead after 14 minutes, but Caitlin Sweeney levelled 12 minutes later in her first game for the under-19s, having been a regular for the under-17s.
Barry would be back in front just two minutes later, Erin Harris making it 2-1 for the visitors.
But the momentum would swing again, Jasmine Guymer netted her third goal in two games to level, before Grace Rodde put the Swans in front for the first time on the brink of half-time.
Rodde would strike again late on to seal all three points and send the Swans top of the Genero Adran Under-19s South table.
Under-16s
Swansea City Under-16s played their maiden game as they entered the Bute Energy Under-16s’ Cup first round, travelling to Caerphilly Dragons.
Comprised mainly of the younger members of the under-17 squad, the Swans advanced with a 3-2 victory.
The Swans had the chance to go in front after 13 minutes when they were awarded a penalty, but Ada Woodman couldn’t convert from the spot.
However, the Swans would go in front 12 minutes later as Alix Green made it 1-0 with her fourth goal of the season.
Caerphilly levelled six minutes after the break, but Mollie Jones restored the Swansea lead just four minutes later.
Woodman would make up for her missed spot-kick as she made it 3-1, before Caerphilly netted a late consolation.
