Swansea City to wear pink socks at Southampton in support of Tackling Cancer Together campaign
Swansea City will wear pink socks for this afternoon’s Boxing Day fixture at Southampton in support of the club’s Tackling Cancer Together campaign.
The campaign, launched in association with official charity partner Maggie’s, aims to allow people to share their cancer experiences and raise awareness of the vital, free services the charity’s Swansea centre provides for people affected by cancer in our city and community.
The decision has been taken after the EFL made the club aware we would not be able to wear white socks with our home strip due to a kit clash with Saints’ home colours.
We would also not be able to wear our teal away kit as this would lead to a colour blind clash with Southampton’s red kit, while our full pink third kit would also represent a kit clash.
When given the option of wearing our home shirt and shorts, but with a change of socks, the club opted to wear pink socks - as opposed to teal - to highlight our backing for Maggie’s and the Tackling Cancer Together campaign.
