Swansea City Under-23s kick off their campaign in the new format of the Premier League Cup against Newcastle at Whitley Park this Friday, September 30 (1pm).
The young Swans will be looking to bounce back against the Magpies after suffering a 3-2 defeat against them in Premier League 2 on Monday.
As well as Newcastle, the development squad have been drawn in Group A against Bristol City and Southampton.
The restructured competition will see 32 clubs split into eight groups of four teams. Each team in the group will play each other twice - home and away.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage of the competition in March 2017.
As with the Premier League 2 league, the competition will be contested between under-23 teams, with each side allowed three over-age outfield players and a goalkeeper born before January 1993.
The new format replaces the knockout form of the competition. Last season the Swans lost in extra time against Millwall in the last 32 before West Ham beat Hull in the final.
