Swansea City Under-21s donate presents to local social services
Swansea City Under-21s players have made a considerable donation of gifts to social services, which will be distributed to families and children in the local area.
For some families supported by local social services, a Christmas with food and gifts for children would have been unachievable after a difficult year amidst the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.
Gifts donated by the age-grade players will go a long way in helping make someone’s Christmas this year, and providing a present for a young person in Swansea who may otherwise have had nothing to open on Christmas Day.
A spokesperson for Swansea's social services said the gifts will help put smiles on the faces of local children.
“For the players to donate gifts once again this Christmas is fantastic,” she said.
“It is a really good thing they are doing. It will bring a number of young children joy and, for some, more than they would have dreamed of.
“This will brighten most children’s Christmas mornings and we are thankful for the generosity of the young players.”
Under-21s' captain Mitchell Bates, added: "It gives us a chance to come together as a whole team and give something back to children across Swansea and south Wales around Christmas.
“It is a great cause, and if it puts a smile on children's faces, it's worth it.. We are very grateful for everything we have in our lives so we were keen to give something back.
"It’s a special day for everyone. Just the smallest thing can help make them very happy, so it’s good to give back."
