Swansea City is saddened to learn of the passing of the club’s former player Williams Rees at the age of 87.
Rees made six first-team appearances for the Swans between 1954 and 1958, either side of completing his national service.
He helped the Swans win the West Wales Senior Cup by beating Llanelli in 1954, and was also part of the reserve squad that secured the Football Combination Second Division Championship the following season.
Having started out as a junior at the Vetch Field, and an understudy to the brilliant outside left Cliff Jones, Rees went on to have spells with Peterborough United, Crystal Palace and Hastings United.
Everyone at Swansea City sends their sincerest condolences to William’s friends and family at this sad time.
