Could you provide a welcoming home for the next generation of Swansea City stars?

We’re looking for Host Families to support our young players as they move to Swansea City for the 2025-2026 season.

Why Become a Host Family?

  • Provide a stable, safe, and welcoming home
  • Play a vital role in a player’s growth on and off the pitch
  • Support their academic and personal development
  • Receive competitive remuneration

Family is at the heart of Swansea City. We know our players perform at their best when they feel happy and secure at home.

Ideally, we would like applicants who are able to provide a home for a player full-time (seven nights per week) but we will also accept applications for those who can offer short-term (one or two nights) placements.

Players will be aged between 16 and 19.

What we’re looking for

We’re seeking Host Families in the SA1, SA2 and SA5 postcode areas with a close proximity to a train station or other public transport facilities. You should be able to provide high-quality accommodation, ideally in a family environment.

Requirements:

  • Provide a daily nutritionally-balanced evening meal with occasional breakfasts/lunches.
  • Access to laundry facilities and Wi-Fi.
  • A safe and suitable environment for the player.
  • Private bedroom with a suitable bed.
  • Full or part-time placements available year-round to align with the football season.
  • Willingness to accommodate trialists and provide holiday cover when needed.

You’ll be able to:

  • Create a welcoming, homely environment for players.
  • Teach essential independent living skills like cooking, cleaning, and self-care.
  • Provide meals following nutritional guidance from the Academy.
  • Ensure accommodation is close to local amenities with good transport links.
  • Report any welfare concerns to the Academy’s Safeguarding and Player Care team.
  • Integrate players into family life as much as they feel comfortable.
  • Accommodate regular inspections and visits during the season.
  • Build trusted relationships through open communication.
  • Adapt to the flexible schedule of young players throughout the football season.
  • Promote and demonstrate a strong anti-discriminatory practice.

It would be great if you have:

  • Experience working with young people.
  • Understanding of the emotional impact and well-being challenges young athletes face.
  • A child-focused approach.
  • The capacity to accommodate more than one player.

If you're ready to offer a supportive home and make a lasting impact, we'd love to hear from you!

Our comprehensive application and screening process will include DBS checks (for all residents aged 16 or older), visits throughout the season and references.

If successful, you agree to adhering to ongoing requirements of Host Families, as outlined in the application process, including home visits from our Safeguarding and Player Care Teams
