Everyone at Swansea City is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former player Ronnie Rees at the age of 79.
Rees – who was born in Ystradgynlais – began his career at Coventry City and made more than 230 appearances for the Sky Blues, helping them win the Second Division.
He also had spells at West Bromwich Albion and Nottingham Forest before joining the Swans for a then-record fee in 1972.
He went on to wear the Swans shirt 100 times over a three-and-a-half year spell, before moving to Haverfordwest.
Rees also represented Wales 39 times in the late 1960s and early 70s.
The thoughts of everyone at the club are with Ronnie’s friends and family at this sad time.
