Swansea City is saddened to learn of the passing of former player John Moore at the age of 79.
The former defender was born in Liverpool and came through the academy ranks with Everton, before going on to join Stoke City.
A move to Shrewsbury Town followed in 1968, and he would spend four years with them and make over 150 appearances.
He followed Harry Gregg to the Swans early in 1973 and spent two years with the club, making 31 league appearances, before a knee injury forced his retirement.
Following his retirement, John remained in Swansea, living in Murton. He spent a number of years coaching grassroots junior teams in the area.
Everyone at Swansea City sends their sincerest condolences to John’s friends and family at this sad time.
