Swansea City midfielder Jose Canas joins Espanyol
1st September
Midfielder Jose Canas has joined Spanish club Espanyol after his contract at Swansea City was cancelled by mutual consent.
Canas made 35 appearances in all competitions for the Swans last season following his free transfer from Real Betis.
But he now returns to La Liga by joining an Espanyol side that has picked up one point from their opening two top-flight matches.
The 27-year-old made his Swans debut in the Europa League opener against Malmo at the Liberty, and he featured heavily in the club's continental adventure which ended in the last 32 round against Napoli.
The Spaniard, who also featured in notable wins over Valencia (Europa League) and Manchester United (FA Cup), made his final Swans appearance in the 3-2 loss at Everton in the Barclays Premier League last March.
Everyone at Swansea City would like to thank Jose for his services to the club, and wish him well for the future.
