Swansea City Ladies' work rate delights Chris Church
Assistant manager Chris Church expressed his delight with Swansea City Ladies’ work rate in their 2-0 victory over Abergavenny.
The Welsh Premier Women’s League leaders secured three more points thanks to goals from Stacey John-Davis and Tija Richardson.
The win in Monmouthshire means the Swans now sit four points ahead of Cardiff Met at the top of the table with just three games remaining.
Church was thrilled with the work ethic displayed by his side and believes that was key as they took another step closer to the title.
“Credit to the players, they were fantastic,” he said.
“Every single one of them put in a great shift and that is how we came away with the three points.
“We knew from the first half with the conditions that it was going to be tough and we knew that Abergavenny were going to be up for it.
“They weren’t going to give us time or space on the ball, so in the second half, we knew we had to get the ball down and start moving it.
“We did that quite well in patches and we really just rolled our sleeves up to make that happen.
“You could see that from the work rate from the midfield and the strikers.”
The Ladies return to action next Sunday (2pm) when they face Connah’s Quay Nomads in the FAW Women’s Cup semi-finals.
