Swansea City Foundation’s ‘Give a Jack a Jacket’ campaign is returning this winter to support those in need of warm layers, which will be distributed to a number of charitable organisations across Swansea as part of the Premier League Fans' Fund project.

Originally launched back in 2016, the scheme aims to provide the homeless and those in need of warm layers of clothing to help them fight the chill at this time of year.

Statistics Wales found that more than 13,000 households were assessed as homeless last year by councils, an increase of 8% on the year previously.

As part of the initiative, the Foundation will donate a number of club coats and jackets, and we are calling on supporters to join the effort with any donations of their own they would like to make.

Inclusion manager at Swansea City AFC Foundation, Lloyd Thomas, highlights the importance of the campaign and how the community can support each other this winter.

"We can all appreciate now coming into the winter months how cold it can be," said Thomas.

"It's important to try and understand how challenging it can be for those sleeping rough this winter, so the more donations we receive the more we can provide to our local community over these winter months.

"If you've got anything laying around the house, please come and find a donation box, permanently in the Swansea.com Stadium reception or club shop, and around the ground on the Saturday November 30 matchday.

"For us to be associated with these organisations who support homelessness is really important to us as a football club and charitable arm of the football club. We want to ensure we're providing as much support as we can to raise awareness and also support those in need this winter."

The programme will launch on November 20 at the Swansea.com Stadium, with the Foundation and club ambassador Lee Trundle on hand to collect coats and jackets, with a permanent donation location in the club shop and reception.

In addition, there will be a collection of coats and jackets in the club shop ahead of Swansea City’s Sky Bet Championship fixture against Portsmouth on November 30 at the Swansea.com Stadium.

Thanks to the generosity of supporters, over 2,500 donations were previously handed out to those in need, and the Foundation is once again hoping to help people facing difficulties this winter.
