Swansea City Ecuador winger Jefferson Montero Barclays Premier League Deportivo La Coruna
30th July
Swans pace ace Jefferson Montero has revealed he's up to speed ahead of the new Barclays Premier League season.
Following a successful first year with the Swans, the winger had a short summer break due to his involvement in Ecuador's Copa America campaign.
Montero was part of the Swans squad that travelled to Germany for a week-long tour, though he was put through individual training sessions to build his fitness rather than taking part in the matches against Borussia Monchengladbach and 1860 Munich.
But after playing 70 minutes in the friendly against Championship side Reading, the 25-year-old is raring to go ahead of the Premier League opener at defending champions Chelsea next week.
"There was not much time to rest but I had the time I needed," said Montero. "I feel very good and I had time to spend time with my family after the Copa America.
"There was the World Cup last year too, but I am very proud to play for my country and I will always try to compete.
"Now I am happy to be playing for Swansea again and I feel ready.
"I want to play more games last year and it was hard not to be on the pitch when I had injuries. I did play a lot of minutes but hopefully I can play more and it can show in my performances."
Montero, who made 34 appearances for the Swans last season, will be part of the Swans squad that takes on Deportivo La Coruna at the Liberty on Saturday.
The La Liga side provides the final test for Garry Monk's side before the Barclays Premier League season gets under way.
