Swansea City DSA has presented the club with new ear defenders
Swansea City Disabled Supporters' Association (DSA) has presented the club with new ear defenders which can be used by supporters in all areas of the stadium.
Ear defenders are available for both home and away supporters to borrow on matchdays, and are a valuable addition for supporters who can find loud noises challenging.
Supporters are able to borrow ear defenders by speaking to a disability liaison steward on the day. Alternatively, supporters can email accessibility@swanseacity.com in advance; please include stand, seat and match details.
DSA secretary, Cath Dyer, said: “The DSA helps ensure supporters, home and away, to have their best possible match day experience.
“Inclusion is so important and we have to consider all the different requirements for persons with disabilities.
“Some people with Autism and other health conditions can struggle with crowds and noises. The DSA committee offered to donate ear defenders to the club in order to support supporters who may need them.
“We don’t want supporters to feel worried about attending a game at the stadium because of the noise, as the ear defenders can be used to help them enjoy the game.
“Ear defenders can play a big part in improving someone’s match day experience, and we are pleased to be able to help with this.”
Swansea City head of supporter services and disabled liaison officer, Hayley Ford, said: “We are grateful for the DSA’s constant support. Their passion and commitment to improving Swansea City matches for disabled supporters is so valuable to us becoming a more inclusive club.
“For some people ear defenders might not seem much, but for others, having these on site for people to use free of charge opens up opportunities to attend matches at the Swansea.com Stadium.
“We can’t thank Cath Dyer, Andrew Brayley and the entire DSA enough for their ongoing support, feedback and dialogue.”
The DSA have also sponsored the Sensory Room for the 2024-25 season, which has enhanced the provision for those using it, have played a key role in the implementation of Stoma friendly toilets at the ground, and started the ball moving on the recently updated Young Carers Policy.
