Swansea City Cynoed Ladies Welsh Premier Women's league
1st April
Swansea City Ladies strengthened their position in the Welsh Premier Women's League thanks to a 2-0 victory over Cyncoed Ladies at Landore on Wednesday evening.
The Swans dominated from the outset and created plenty of chances, Emma Beynon's strike narrowly missed the bar before Sophie Hancocks put the hosts ahead in the 16th minute with a well-taken effort from the edge of the penalty area.
The Ladies could have doubled their lead with a close effort from JJ Altrogge before another chance from Hancocks was saved by Cyncoed's keeper.
Swansea continued to create chances in the second half with Beynon and Jodie Passmore both coming close.
The Swans did eventually double their lead with a long-range strike from Canadian full-back Altrogge to make it 2-0.
Stacey John made her return to the first team following a long period on the side-lines due to injury before Hancocks powerful strike almost extended the Swans lead.
"We started well with a good tempo to our play and maintained that throughout the game." said midfielder Sophie Hancocks. "It's another three points for us and we hope for another good performance on Sunday against Aberystwyth."
