Swansea City complete Sam Surridge loan deal

Swansea City has completed the signing of Sam Surridge on a season-long loan from Bournemouth, subject to international clearance.

The striker - who will wear the number 19 shirt for his new club - becomes the sixth new arrival of the summer at the Liberty Stadium following on the heels of Jake Bidwell, Ben Wilmot, Freddie Woodman, Kristoffer Peterson and Aldo Kalulu in making the move to South Wales.

Surridge, 21, has made two Premier League appearances for the Cherries and has shown impressive goalscoring form during his loan spells away from the Vitality Stadium.

Having joined Bournemouth’s academy set-up at the age of nine, Surridge elected to leave to play for local side Bournemouth Sports.

But he was snapped up again by the Cherries youth department at under-15 level and proved a prolific scorer at age-grade level.

Surridge also enjoyed initial loan spells with Weymouth and Poole before making his EFL bow for Yeovil.

He spent the 2017-18 season on loan at Huish Park and scored 10 goals in 53 appearances for the Glovers, while he featured in their FA Cup meeting with Manchester United.

He joined Oldham on loan at the start of the 2018-19 campaign and made a big impression at Boundary Park, netting 12 goals in 20 games for the League Two side.

It was enough to prompt Eddie Howe to recall him to the south coast, and he was rewarded with his top-flight debut in a defeat to Arsenal in February before appearing again against Crystal Palace on the final day of the season.

Surridge has featured regularly for Bournemouth during pre-season – scoring in a 3-1 win at Brentford - and will be looking to make his mark at Championship level with the Swans.
