Swansea City complete Ben Wilmot loan signing

Swansea City has completed the signing of Watford centre-back Ben Wilmot on a season-long loan, subject to international clearance.

Wilmot becomes the club’s second signing of the summer, joining Jake Bidwell in Steve Cooper’s squad.

The 19-year-old, who will wear squad number 20, will train with his new team-mates this morning ahead of Saturday’s final pre-season friendly against Italian side Atalanta at the Liberty Stadium.

Wilmot, who can also play as a holding midfielder, started his career with League Two club Stevenage before attracting the attention of the top-flight Hornets in May 2018.

The England Under-19 international featured six times under Javi Gracia last season – twice in the Premier League – before joining Italian club Udinese on loan, where he made five appearances in Serie A.
