Swansea City AFC Foundation welcomed Premier League Kicks participants from Plymouth Argyle Community Trust to Pure Football on Saturday for the ‘fixture within a fixture’ project.

‘Fixture within a fixture’ sees two PL Kicks sides from two difference club community organisations compete in a friendly tournament before participants from both clubs head to watch their respective men's teams face off in a league fixture.

After the tournament, both the Foundation and the Community Trust kicks sides travelled to the Swansea.com Stadium following the tournament to watch the Swans’ match against Plymouth Argyle.

The Foundation had two teams in attendance which were made up of participants from across multiple PL Kicks sessions, which run throughout the week in 11 different venues.

Sports and education coordinator, Katy Hosford, who led the girls team said: “They’ve really enjoyed it.

“It’s a good opportunity for them to play with their friends and represent the Swans as well. They love playing football, the weather hasn’t been too great but it’s not dampened their spirits.

“It’s nice for them to spend a couple of hours together and being able to go and watch the Swans together, it’s just a great day out for them.”

Jack Giles, sports and education coordinator for Neath Port Talbot, took charge of the Foundation’s boys team and emphasised how much the players enjoyed the experience.

He added: “The boys have really showcased how they can come together and work as a team.

“They’re all big Swans fans, so for them to have the opportunity to wear the kit and represent the club is really exciting for them. The football was really competitive so it was a great afternoon.”
