Swansea boss Duff praises Josh Key after strong debut
Head coach Michael Duff praised the energy of Josh Key after the defender made an eye-catching Swansea City debut in the draw with Birmingham City.
Key, who joined the Swans from Exeter last month, played in the left wing-back position against the Blues and was prominent throughout the afternoon as the teams played out a 1-1 draw.
The 23-year-old ended the day with seven successful tackles to his name, as well as two dribbles and three aerial duels win.
His energy and athleticism provided the Swans with a regular outlet down the left flank, and Duff was impressed by his debut, even though he admits he does not ideally see Key operating on that side of the pitch for the long term.
“I thought Josh Key was excellent playing out of position,” said Duff.
“His attitude and his physicality hopefully showed, although we do not see him on that side of the pitch in the long term.
“But the way he adapted to it and applied himself was really good.”
