Swans U19s targeting cup glory
8th May
Swans U19s look to lift the FAW Youth Cup for a fourth consecutive time when they face West End in the final at the Liberty on Thursday (7pm).
Tony Pennock's youngsters take part in the competition's showpiece for the sixth year in a row, having beaten West End in the 2011 final and The New Saints last year.
The young Swans booked their place in this year's final thanks to a 3-0 win over Carmarthen Town in the semi-final while West End saw off Cambrian & Clydach 7-1.
"It will be an interesting final," said Academy Manager Tony Pennock. "We beat West End two years ago to lift the cup and they have players who have been involved in our set-up in the past, so they will have something to prove.
"For our players it is the chance to play on the excellent surface at the Liberty, show people what they can do and win the cup for a fourth time in a row.
"It's difficult when you are the holders because everyone wants to beat you that much more, but we've done well in our route to the final.
"Now we have an opportunity to retain the cup in front of a good crowd at the Liberty."
The only absentee for Swans U19s is midfielder Josh Sheehan (ankle) while they include young pros Scott Tancock, Henry Jones and James Loveridge in their squad.
Swans U19s squad: Oliver Davies, Lewis Moore, Scott Tancock, Henry Jones, James Loveridge, Liam Shephard, Thomas Atyeo, Joseph Jones, Connor Roberts, Luke Llewellyn, Connor Peters, Sam Evans, Corey Francis, Kyle Copp, Alex Samuel, Alex Bray, Dylan Thomas, Jordan Sherman.
Admission: £4 adults; £2 concessions; U16s free.
