Ben Cabango

Ben Cabango made his first international start as Wales beat Mexico 1-0 in a friendly in Cardiff.

The Swansea City centre-back played the full 90 minutes as the hosts secured victory thanks to Kieffer Moore’s early strike.

It proved a third senior cap for Cabango, while Swans team-mate Connor Roberts also played a part as he came on for the last four minutes against the visitors, who are ranked ninth in the world.

Next up for Wales is a World Cup 2022 qualifier against the Czech Republic in Cardiff on Tuesday.

Andre Ayew captained Ghana to a top spot finish as they signed off their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign with a 3-1 win over Sao Tome and Principe in Accra.

Having missed the 1-1 draw with South Africa, Ayew returned to skipper Ghana to a comfortable victory which confirmed they finished top of Group C.

Ayew played the full game as goals from Nicholas Opoku, Abdul Rahman Baba and former Swan Jordan Ayew from the penalty spot saw off the visitors.

Marc Guehi

Meanwhile, at under-21 level, Marc Guehi started in the heart of defence as England were beaten 2-0 by Portugal.

Aidy Boothroyd’s team, who lost their previous game against Switzerland, went down to goals from Dany Mota and a Francisco Trincao penalty, which was awarded after Guehi had caught substitute Goncalo Ramos in the box.

England need to beat Croatia on Wednesday and hope Portugal defeat Switzerland to have any chance of progressing from Group D.

Two young Swans started for Wales Under-18s in a friendly defeat to England on Monday afternoon.

Harry Jones and Joel Cotterill were included in the starting XI while Cameron Congreve and Cian Williams were among the substitutes as Wales were beaten 2-0 in Cardiff.
