Swans poppy shirts raise thousands

Poppy branded shirts worn by the Swans during the 2-1 win over Arsenal in November have raised over £5000 for The Royal British Legion at auction.
Icelandic midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson's shirt received the highest bid, selling for £660, closely followed by Wilfried Bony (£510) and Ashley Williams (£510).
Match winner Bafe Gomis' shirt sold for £245 while debutant Modou Barrow's raised £215 for charity. The players had also signed each unique poppy-branded shirt.
The money raised during the seven-day online auction will go towards the charity's Poppy Appeal helping bereaved families, wounded service men and women, young veterans seeking employment and older veterans in need of care.
All 20 Barclays Premier League clubs supported the 2014 Appeal over Remembrance weekend by wearing special edition 'Football Remembers' poppy shirts to commemorate 100 years since the start of the First World War.
Louise Ajdukiewicz, Head of Corporate Partnerships at The Royal British Legion said: "We're very grateful to Swansea City for once again supporting The Royal British Legion by donating their match-worn poppy shirts after the game.
"The money raised will help us to continue making a difference to the lives of those serving, who have served and their families."
