Swans Ladies hit Cyncoed for six
Swansea City Ladies extended their unbeaten run in the Welsh Premier Women's League to 11 games with a convincing 6-0 win over Cyncoed in their final home match of the season.
The Swans picked up where they left off from last week’s 7-0 victory over Briton Ferry with another resounding success.
A brace from Kelly Adams and goals from Emma Beynon, Shaunna Jenkins, Lauren Smith and Lani Hogben sealed another impressive victory for the home side to move them second in the table.
Swansea started the match strongly as Adams tapped in a Katy Hosford free-kick after just five minutes in Llandarcy.
They doubled their lead just three minutes later; Beynon bagging her 14th goal in the league this season as a confident run from the midfielder was finished by her calmly slotting the ball into the bottom corner.
Jenkins added to the Swans' tally after she headed home Stacey John-Davis’ cross inside the penalty area, and it was four before the interval after Lauren Smith confidently stepped up to score from the spot.
Ian Owen’s side didn’t take their foot off the gas in the second half as Adams completed her double by nodding in another cross from John-Davis.
A successful afternoon was completed by substitute Hogben who scored her first-ever goal for the Swans; the youngster finding the back of the net from 35 yards with a powerful strike.
Manager Ian Owen was delighted with another emphatic win, and to see Hogben netting her first goal for the side.
“It was another good performance from the team, and I am so pleased to see Lani get on the scoresheet," he said.
The victory means the Swans move up to second in the table ahead of rivals Cardiff City by one point with only one more fixture to be played.
The final match of the season sees Swansea make a short trip down the M4 to play fourth-placed Port Talbot Town on Sunday, with kick-off at 2pm.
