26th March
Swansea City Ladies will spread their wings this summer and cross the Atlantic for their pre-season tour that will take them to America.
Flying into New York this June, the tour will see the Swans Ladies take on a trio of American teams as part of their preparations for the 2016/17 season.
The team, who currently sit second in the Welsh Premier Women's League, will then head to the Garden State to face Jersey United Spartans, PDA (Player Development Academy) and New Jersey Copa.
"Everyone is extremely excited about our preseason tour to New Jersey," said Ladies manager, Ian Owen.
Midfielder Katy Hosford added: "As a team, we are looking forward to this great opportunity to travel to America and compete in three high standard games.
"I am personally looking forward to this test and challenging myself against some of the top players."
Running from June 19-27, the tour will kick off on Tuesday, June 21 as the Swans line up against their counterparts from Jersey United Spartans at Morristown Beard School.
The following evening will see them return to Morristown for the second game of the tour against PDA, a year-round soccer training programme that aims to develop players in a range of age groups, competing in a range of leagues throughout the north east and mid-Atlantic states.
Playing their last match on Friday, June 24, the tour will culminate with a game against New Jersey Copa FC.
A part of FC Copa Academy - a nationally recognised soccer organisation comprised of 40 premier teams - New Jersey Copa FC's ladies team competes in the UWS East Conference (United Women's Soccer).
"The opportunity to compete against players from the top women's footballing nation in the world is fantastic," added Owen. "As a coach, to test my players in this environment is very appealing and I am looking forward to the challenge.
"Our players are always challenging themselves and I'm sure they are relishing the prospect of playing in the States."
