Swans finalise America tour with Charlotte Independence friendly
7th June
Swansea City have finalised their America tour with a fixture against Charlotte Independence.
The Swans will face the United Soccer League side at the 4,700-capacity Ramblewood Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Wednesday, July 13 (7.30pm local time).
The fixture completes the 11-day tour schedule for Francesco Guidolin's side, who then take on fellow third-tier club Richmond Kickers in Virginia on Saturday, July 16.
"We are delighted our fixture with Charlotte Independence has been confirmed - it will be an excellent way to kick off our two-game tour in America," said Guidolin.
"The tour will give us the opportunity to work through tactics and formations, while this game - and the following match with Richmond Kickers - will build the match fitness of the players, so it is an important period for our preparations.
"We are all really looking forward to playing Charlotte and meeting fans of both clubs at the game. It is sure to be a great occasion for both clubs."
Charlotte Independence head coach Mike Jeffries is relishing the fixture, insisting it is a great opportunity for his players to test themselves against opposition from the best league in world football.
"The opportunity to compete against Swansea excites and motivates our group - we have a group of players looking to compete at higher levels," said Jeffries.
"This game offers them the ability to measure themselves on field with EPL players, as well as enjoy the atmosphere surrounding a big game."
Independence General Manager Tom Engstrom added: "The Premier League is considered by some to be the best sports league in the world. It is truly an honour to host Swansea City at our new and beautiful soccer-specific Ramblewood Stadium."
Tickets will be on general sale for this game on Friday, June 10 at 3pm (UK time). Further details will be announced soon.
