Swans coaches hold special session for kids
Tony Roberts and Claude Makelele hosted a special coaching session to young footballers during the Swans' tour in America.
Goalkeeping coach Roberts and assistant coach Makelele delivered the session to a group of 15 teenage players at local club International Development Futbol (IDF) – a Joma academy – near the club's base in Raleigh.
A player education programme, IDF aims to develop their young players with the goal of helping them excel in the sport at a professional or college level.
Hosting the coaching session at North Carolina State University, the Swans duo ran through numerous drills with the club’s U16 side before returning to the Swans’ training camp base.
“I went through a couple of drills that the boys do in the academy back home," said Roberts. "They were mainly drills on controlling the ball, passing and keeping the ball and then we did a shooting drill at the end.
“They’ve got a good standard of players. Their ball skills were good; controlling it, receiving it and in general it was very good session where I hope the learned a fwe things,” the goalkeeping coach finished.
