Luke Williams praised the professionalism and quality of Jay Fulton after the midfielder’s goal set Swansea City on the way to victory at Plymouth Argyle.

The Scot – who will soon bring up 11 years in Swansea colours – made his fourth league start of the season and got the breakthrough at Home Park.

Fulton pounced when Brendan Galloway failed to clear a delivery from Josh Tymon, and kept calm to steer the ball low through a host of bodies and into the net.

And the head coach praised how Fulton has continued to keep his head down and work hard, despite the frustration he must have felt having to watch on from the sidelines.

“Have no doubt he is one of my favourite people involved with this football club,” said Williams of Fulton.

“It’s been tough for him because he is a competitive guy and he is such a good player. I am sure he will want to have played more minutes, but there is a lot of competition there.

“He understands that, we all understand that. He has come in and put in a performance, and he took his goal brilliantly well.

“It may have looked simple, but it is a real high level of quality to be so calm in a key moment and give us the breakthrough.

“It can be so easy to make a hash of that, there are a lot of bodies in there and you have to find the right spot. He did it so well and it gave us the momentum.”
