Swans boss Martin dedicates win to mascot Morgan
Russell Martin dedicated Swansea City’s dramatic 3-2 south Wales derby win at Cardiff City to mascot Morgan Ridler, after the brave three-year-old led the team out alongside skipper Matt Grimes at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Morgan, who is from Gorseinon, has been battling cancer, and is due to restart a course of chemotherapy treatment after this game.
And head coach Martin revealed how he and his players had talked about the bravery the toddler has already shown in his life, and how much they wanted to deliver a special moment for Morgan and his family.
“We spoke about it before the game, Morgan who was our little mascot today, we sent him a little video yesterday,” said Martin.
“But we spoke about what that young man has been through already in his early life, he is only three years old, it is so difficult and it puts things into perspective.
“We talked about wanting to give Morgan and his family a really special memory, and a really special day and I am so grateful we could do that.
“The courage and character the players showed has allowed us to do that.
“When you can generate a feeling like that among a group of people, you have to enjoy it, otherwise what is the point?”
